Portara has no network access. The app is sandboxed by macOS and does not
request the network entitlement, so it is incapable of sending data anywhere — even if
it wanted to. You can verify this yourself: run
codesign -d --entitlements - /Applications/Portara.app and note the absence of
any com.apple.security.network key.
What Portara touches
Portara copies photos and videos from a connected iPhone, iPad or camera into a folder you choose. Everything it reads and writes stays on your Mac.

What Portara does not do
- No analytics, telemetry, or usage statistics.
- No crash reporting services.
- No advertising, and no advertising identifiers.
- No third-party SDKs of any kind.
- No accounts, sign-in, or cloud sync.
- No reading of your Photos library — Portara talks to the connected device directly.
- No tracking across apps, websites, or devices.
Your photos and videos
Portara copies files byte for byte. Image content, EXIF metadata, location data and timestamps are transferred unchanged from your device to your folder. That data is never inspected for any purpose beyond the import itself: capture dates are read to sort files into folders, and file contents are hashed locally to detect duplicates you already imported.
Those hashes exist only in memory for the duration of an import. They are not stored, and they are not sent anywhere.
Children
Portara is a utility with no accounts, no content submission, and no communication features. It collects no data from anyone, including children under 13.
Changes to this policy
If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date. Because Portara collects nothing, any future change would have to be an addition — and would be described here plainly before it shipped.
